Best Places to Visit in Andhra Pradesh | Incredible | Resorts | Attractions

The state of Andhra Pradesh has much to offer to tourists, both in terms of activities and sights to see. However, there are certain areas that stand out due to their sheer beauty and uniqueness, making them must-visit places in Andhra Pradesh. Here’s the list of some of the best places to visit in Andhra Pradesh

Best Places to visit in Andhrapradesh

Incredible Places - Araku Valley

Let’s take a look at some of these incredible places. Starting with Amaravati, it’s one of my personal favorite places in AP. It is located on River Krishna and is home to Krishna river Dolphin. I love spending time here as it has a very calm and serene vibe that puts me in a good mood every time I visit. You can also go for boating or simply have a picnic under a tree; you won’t regret visiting here. Next up is Araku Valley which remains covered in mist throughout most part of year; however, that doesn’t stop tourists from flocking in by droves to enjoy waterfalls and amazing panoramic views.

Tirumala Temple

Located about 7 km from Tirupati and is considered one of The Char Dhams (four sacred sites) of Hinduism. The other three sites are Badrinath, Dwarka, and Puri. It is a hilltop temple at a height of 1000m above sea level on Sri Venkateswara Hills. A constant stream of pilgrims visit Tirumala, many believing that a pilgrimage to Tirumala is equivalent to visiting all four holy places. There is no entrance fee for visitors and pilgrims can visit anytime during daylight hours. However, a strict dress code has been enforced for non-Hindus with proper identification; it includes covering shoulders, knees and upper arms.

Kanaka Durga Temple

Located at Ananthagiri hills near Vijayawada, Kanaka Durga Temple is a famous pilgrim centre. The temple enshrines Goddess Kanaka Durga, who is believed to be an incarnation of Mahalakshmi. The annual Jatara takes place in March and April every year and attracts huge crowds from various places. You can reach here by hiring a cab or driving down yourself if you are venturing out of Hyderabad for one day trip. If you plan your visit during winter months, make sure to pack warm clothes as it can get very cold during that time. Another option would be to head back home after visiting Kanaka Durga Temple.

Undavalli Caves

These caves are an architectural wonder. Not only is it a sight for sore eyes, but you’ll also have a chance to appreciate the rich historical value of these cave temples. They date back centuries, although not much is known about their origins due to time taking its toll on many other facets of human life. What is known however, is that they hold immense religious significance as they were built by Buddhist monks who were said to reside there at one point in time. The Government of Andhra Pradesh maintains strict vigilance over them, and makes sure they stand tall and firm well into the future. It’s pretty hard to believe that something so ancient can still be present-day evidence of how man has evolved over time – in more ways than one!

Guntur Chandragiri Wildlife Sanctuary

The Guntur Chandragiri Wildlife Sanctuary is one of India’s 14 major wildlife sanctuaries and is located in Theis one of India’s 14 major wildlife sanctuaries and is located in Guntur district , Andhra Pradesh. It was established in 1980 as a part of Project Tiger and spreads over an area of 141.29 square km. It is famous for its large number of leopards, which are said to have increased due to releases from Yerramukkam and Pulicat reserves. Besides leopards, tigers also inhabit here but sightings are very rare. A wide variety of plants also can be seen here including medicinal ones like guggul, that too at several spots.

Simhachalam Temple

Telangana and Andhra are blessed with many beautiful temples that depict culture of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Simhachalam temple is one of them located at a distance of 35 km from Visakhapatnam. The unique feature of Simhachalam Temple is that you can see a mirror image of Lord Venkateswara Temple at Tirumala Tirupati Balaji Temple. Another interesting fact about Simhachalam Temple is that it faces East while Rajahmundry Jagannatha Swamy which has similar name faces west direction. If you visit both these temples, take a note of their differences as well as similarities so that you could find out which God has been given more importance by people of Andhra and Telangana during olden days.

Nagarjuna Sagar Dam

The Nagarjuna Sagar Dam (also known as Nandi Raju Sagar) is a dam built across river Krishna at Nagarjuna Sagar. It is located about 400 km from Hyderabad, and 44 km from Macherla town of Guntur district. The dam was constructed across River Krishna as part of large irrigation scheme for providing water for agriculture over an area of 26,000 hectares downstream from the dam. Seven barrages were also constructed on its tributaries namely, Indrakila, Indravati, Banasruti and Pranahithi. All these rivers ultimately drain into Bay of Bengal by way of River Godavari.

Efforts were made to build a weir here even during Nizam's time when Kotapalli village was named after him but he died before it could be constructed on account his ignorance about its importance for farmers.

Meesapulimala Trekking

If you’re looking for a great way to escape city life and hit reset, Meesapulimala Trekking is your answer. This mountain trek will take you deep into nature while providing breathtaking views of snow-capped peaks. On top of being beautiful, Meesapulimala Trekking is also a great workout. During one part of the hike, referred to as The Wall by locals, trekkers climb up steps carved out of stone leading all 100 feet straight up!

You can plan a weekend trip from Visakhapatnam or use it as a pit-stop for when you drive down from Vijayawada. You can also see dolphins here during early mornings and evenings.
